Nakanuma Trailhead

Attention

With regard to the Forest Road to Nakanuma Trailhead (Shitomae Forest Road)
Vehicles up to 1.8 meters width may pass, but larger vehicles than that (such as minibuses) cannot pass.

・This course starts from the trailhead at the end of the forest road
・This is the shortest hiking course among those leading to Mt. Yakeishi.

Access

By Car

From the Tohoku Jukan Expressway's Mizusawa IC, head south on Route 4,
or from the Oshu Smart IC, head north on Prefectural Route 236,
then west on National Route 397, and enter the Shitomae Forest Road.
The distance from Mizusawa IC or Oshu Smart IC to the trailhead is about 30 km, taking about 1 hour.

By Public Transportation

・If using the JR Tohoku Shinkansen: Get off at Mizusawa-Esashi Station and take a taxi.
・If using the JR Tohoku Line: Get off at Mizusawa Station and take a taxi.

*There are no bus routes from the station heading toward Mt. Yakeishi.

Road Conditions to Nakanuma Trailhead (Shitomae Forest Road)

The forest road to Nakanuma Trailhead (Shitomae Forest Road) is an unpaved, rough road.
The road surface is uneven, so we recommend using a vehicle with high ground clearance.
The road is narrow, making passing difficult. Please proceed with extreme caution.
*Due to natural disasters such as heavy rain or typhoons, the road may be closed without prior notice.

Location of the parking lot


The Path to the Summit

This is the Nakanuma trailhead.
It has parking for about 40 vehicles and restrooms.
On weekends from June to July, it is often full.
Lake Nakanuma(About 40 minutes from trailhead)
The hiking trail features well-maintained wooden walkways, making it relatively easy to walk on.
Ginmeisui spring (About 1hour and 50 minutes from trailhead)
Around here, the course merges with the Tsubunuma Course.
This is the Great Snow Valley, located a little further on from Ginmeisui.
You can see lingering snow until around late July.
